Funeral service for William Hollis "Bill" Pope, Sr., 72, of Wills Point, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Trinity Baptist Church in Wills Point with Rev. Jeremy Ogdie and Rev. Karl Ogdie officiating. Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery north of Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

He passed away Friday morning, April 15, 2011, in Terrell.

Bill was born September 6, 1938, in Laurel, Mississippi, the son of Emmett Jones Pope and Bessie Mae Nowlin Pope. He was raised in Mobile, Alabama where he graduated from Murphy High School. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force. On September 28, 1960, he married Delores McAdams. He had been employed by Gardner-Denver as a supervisor and later retired from Alcan Aluminum Corp. as an engineer in 1995. Bill lived in Terrell prior to moving to Wills Point fourteen years ago. He enjoyed working on old cars, collecting guns and singing with several of the men at church. Bill was a member of the National Rifle Association and Trinity Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lila Marie Grimes, Lyra Diane Dalton and Doris E. Goodwin and a brother, Newton D. Pope.

Bill is survived by his wife, Delores Pope, of Wills Point; son, William H. Pope, Jr., of Kansas City Missouri; three brothers, Andrew David Pope & wife, Betty, of Citrus Heights, California, Jake Pope & wife, Pat, of Holly Lake Ranch and Emmett Jerry Pope, of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Pope, of Mobile, Alabama and Collete Raley, of Mobile, Alabama; two grandchildren, Robin Pope and Trace Pope and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Pope and Isabella Jade Pope.

Memorials may be made to Trintity Baptist Church in Wills Point.
